What is RIPH?

RIPH is a French acronym for Rassemblement International pour la Promotion de l'Hydrospeed.

RIPH is the International governing body for the sport of Riverboarding, and is the parent organization of which the USRBA is a member.

The sport of Riverboarding was started in the late 1970's in France where they called it Hydrospeed, and from there is has spread to the entire planet.

In parts of Europe and Africa, they still call it "Hydrospeed".

In New Zealand there are still some people who call it "Sledge", and some even call it "River Surfing", though not to be confused with the stand-up version.

In the USA and most of the rest of the world, it's been called "River Boarding" (thus our acronym) but is now just usually called "Riverboarding".
